Samaritans response to suicide numbers
Charity Samaritans says the number of Islanders taking their own lives may be even higher than thought.
Figures recorded by the coroner's office show ten cases of suicide so far this year - already double the figure for the whole of last year.
But not all cases are recorded as such.
In the British Isles, someone dies from suicide every 90 minutes.
Samaritans, which offers confidential support and advice to anyone experiencing difficulties, receives a call every six seconds.
Gill Porter is the director of its Isle of Man branch.
