Suspected drug overdose

A 36 year-old Onchan man died from a potentially toxic level of heroin, an inquest heard today.

Darren Coxon was found dead at his home in Nursery Avenue on May 9.

Paramedics tried to revive him but were unsuccessful.

A post mortem revealed samples of heroin, Diazepam and cannabis were found in his body and Mr Coxon died due to the aspiration of gastric contents into his lungs, as a result of a potentially toxic level of heroin.

A high and potentially fatal level of morphine was also discovered, which demonstrated the use of heroin.

The inquest has been adjourned for further inquiries.

Last week, 29 year-old Leanne McKee of Nursery Avenue, Onchan admitted supplying drugs to Mr Coxon.

She was subsequently charged with drugs offences and will appear in court again on July 8.
