Environmental assessments to support turbine blade delivery route
Manx Utilities has announced that survey work will take place at Fairy Bridge next week as part of preparations for wind turbine transportation.
The Department of Infrastructure has authorised a road closure from 17-19 March, with Manx Utilities and its contractors, Wardell Armstrong SLR, using the opportunity to conduct environmental assessments.
A single-lane closure with traffic lights will remain in place for an additional two days, 20-21 March, to allow the work to be completed.
The surveys will assess potential impacts on bats and trees along the transport route, ensuring minimal disruption to protected species.
The results will help determine whether any pruning is required to accommodate the movement of turbine blades using a specialised blade-lifting vehicle.
Manx Utilities says the work is in line with consultation commitments and aims to balance infrastructure needs with environmental considerations.
