Study to further understand what deters males from accessing psychological therapies

More than 100 people have responded so far

More than 100 people have responded to a survey designed to help improve access to mental health support for men on the Isle of Man.

Taking the form of a simple questionnaire it's hoped the study will help mental health professionals better understand what deters those who identify as male from reaching out for help.

More than two thirds of suicides recorded on the Island involve males.

The study is being run by Ciara Whelan – an assistant clinical psychologist within Manx Care’s community wellbeing service.

She told Manx Radio she wants to learn more about potential barriers which stop those who identity as male from accessing psychological therapies:

The anonymous study runs for four months - you can find it HERE.
