Stevie-Lea can keep her home

A teenage mother who had been threatenend with eviction by Douglas Borough Council has been told she can keep her home, in Alder Grove, Pulrose.

Last week Stevie-Lea Evans was told she would have to move out of the house, of which her late father was the last tenant, because she didn't meet the council's succession criteria.

However, after considering new evidence at a special meeting yesterday (Wednesday), the Housing Committee confirmed the matter had been resolved and she could remain in the property.

It's understood Stevie-Lea gave officials paperwork, such as utility bills or bank statements, which proved she had lived in the house for at least a year, prior to her father's death last August.

Stevie-Lea, who is 19, recently gave birth to a premature baby girl, who is still receiving treatment at Noble's Hospital.
