Steam Packet Company to work with DoI after docking issues in Douglas

Manxman arrived at low water, which was 'lower than predicted due to high atmospheric pressure'

The Steam Packet says it will be working with the Department of Infrastructure after the Manxman got stuck in Douglas Harbour last night (1 March).

The vessel got trapped on mud as it was attempting to dock and was not able to continue until the tide came up sufficiently.

After 'rigorous checks of internal spaces' it was determined that a dive inspection was not required overnight, but the company has confirmed a 'precautionary in-water dive inspection will be undertaken as soon as circumstances allow'.

The Steam Packet has paid tribute to its crew who handled the 'tricky situation' professionally and says it will be conducting a review of what happened.

Managing Director Brian Thomson says he's keen to ensure 'we don't see a repeat'; the Isle of Man Ship Registry has been informed.
