St Ninian’s students champion educational charity in Manx challenge

Year 12 pupils supporting children in deprived and conflict-affected areas

Students from St Ninian’s High School are working to raise awareness of the charity 'Street Child' in this year’s One World Charity Challenge.

The charity works with local organisations in deprived and conflict-affected areas worldwide to ensure every child has access to education.

It also provides access to mental health support, and emergency aid, while building schools and training teachers.

The team of Year 12 students - Emma Worsfold, Lindi Nyoni, Lucie Williams, Ella Edwards, and Freya Beggs - have researched and advocated for the charity’s work and are producing a presentation showcasing the impact of its efforts:

The One World Charity Challenge, organised by the One World Centre in the Isle of Man, encourages students to engage with global issues by supporting charities working overseas.

Participants select a Manx-registered or small UK-based charity then create a 10-to-12-minute presentation assessing its effectiveness, cultural understanding, and the difference it has made to individuals’ lives.

Sponsorship funds are awarded to the featured charities based on the strength of the students’ presentations.

The initiative aims to broaden young people’s understanding of global development issues while contributing to meaningful change.

You can follow the students' progress via their Facebook page.
