'Unforeseen restrictions' with the berthing structure at the new terminal to blame
The Steam Packet has had to change its Liverpool winter schedule because of 'unforeseen restrictions' with the berthing structure at the new terminal.
The Manxman is due to start sailing to the city next week.
The company says the recent trials with the Manxman and the Ben-my-Chree identified challenges when mooring vessels at various tidal heights - particularly at the forward end of these vessels.
A spokesperson says: "We are currently working with the Department of Infrastructure to find solutions to mitigate the impact of these challenges.
"As a result, it is necessary to modify the timings of the Liverpool schedule from early November until the end of December 2024 to ensure the safe and efficient delivery of our operations in Liverpool."
All passengers affected are in the process of being contacted.
The Steam Packet's apologised for the inconvenience and says it's committed to minimising disruption.
