Isle of Man Energy has since confirmed that it has offered the Northern District Housing Board, as well as Onchan Commissioners, a residential rate as opposed to a commercial one.

In a statement from the Southern Sheltered Housing Joint Board, which oversees all the units in the south of the Island, it's confirmed it's attempting to obtain domestic tariffs for tenants who utilise gas to heat their homes.

It adds that the Communications and Utilities Regulatory Authority and the Office for Fair Trading have also been engaged in the process and 'negotiations are ongoing'.
