Southern 100 still set to go ahead despite weather conditions

Hopes rain will subside in time

** UPDATE (5:30): Road closure delayed until 6.40pm. Officials say although the rain has eased, the delay is necessary 'due to standing water around the course'. All classes will get one session. **

Tonight's Southern 100 practice is still set to get underway despite the current bad weather battering the Island.

Roads on the course are due to close at 6.05pm.

The Clerk of the Course Giles Olley says: "The weather is forecast to continue with rain until approximately 6pm and then clear, with just a small chance of a shower.

"I have spoken to some of the riders and they would prefer to get some practicing done, even though conditions are not ideal, so at present the plan is to close the roads as planned."

A further update will be provided if the weather worsens.
