Unfortunately it was a sad outcome for the team
The Manx branch of the Search and Rescue Dog Association - or SARDA - responded to a call-out in the UK yesterday (19 January).
Whilst travelling down from Heysham towards Cheshire for a search dog assessment, the team were called out by Greater Manchester Police.
They were asked to assist in a search for a missing 14-year-old boy from the Hale area.
Jim MacGregor, with trailing dog Ruby, and with Gary Wright and Will Heap navigating, arrived at the scene at 3.30am.
After a debrief from GM Police, the team set off on a positive trail which led to the River Bollin area.
The team stood down at 5.30am.
SARDA has confirmed that 'tragically, later that day, the missing boy was located in the River Bollin by GM Police.'
Reports from the BBC have named the boy as Luke Howe, 14.
Luke had learning disabilities and was last seen on Thursday evening on Bankhall Lane in Hale, Trafford.
Search and Rescue Dog Association Isle of Man have passed on their sincere condolences to his family.
