Revised promenade plans on display

DOI says changes will tick all the boxes of overall vision

Revised plans for Douglas promenade are going on display at the Sea Terminal from today (Friday).

Changes to the plans will be exhibited until Monday, September 28.

People are welcome to submit their views to the Planning Office at the Department of Environment, Food and Agriculture.

Infrastructure Minister Phil Gawne says their "preferred scheme is the only one that ticks all the boxes in terms of the overall vision."

Changes to the original plans include repositioning the horse tram tracks on the section of the promenade between the war memorial and Queen's gardens.

A single track will take the place where the pavement currently runs adjacent to the sunken gardens.

The Department of Infrastructure says this will increase the width of the walkway by a significant amount.

Pedestrian crossings will also be introduced to assist more vulnerable people.
