Resurfacing work near site of proposed development to be completed next month

Currently in 'unsafe' condition

Resurfacing work near to the site of a proposed £70 million development in Douglas – which has been put on indefinite hold – will be completed next month.

The Department of Infrastructure says the condition of the lane, from Victoria Road to the promenade, is ‘unsafe’ and, as a result, it’s unable to open it to traffic or pedestrians.

It’s located near to what should have been the new headquarters of King Gaming.

Construction on the site has stopped after a decision by the Gambling Supervision Commission to cancel the gambling licence of the company following a criminal investigation.

In response to a Tynwald question for written answer Minister Tim Crookall says a contractor has been appointed to carry out resurfacing work on the route and it should be finished in early November.
