Resolving connectivity issues to Island key to regenerating tourism says hotelier

Welbeck manager says SPC unreliability is costing them bookings

A Douglas hotelier says the unreliability of travel links to the Island is causing them to lose bookings.

It comes during a weekend of poor weather affecting sailings to and from the Island.

The Welbeck is a family-run business that's been operating for 46 years.

Manager Lucy George says resolving the connectivity issues needs to be a priority for government:

Visit Isle of Man says it views the cost and provision of connectivity as the biggest obstacle to growth of the visitor economy whilst recognising the operating constraints and capital investment requirements for the parties concerned and the need to provide value for money across the sector.

The board supports any activity making it easier for those travelling on and off the Island and welcomes recent and planned changes made by the Steam Packet Company.

Manx Radio has approached the Steam Packet for comment but has not had a response.
