Residents invited to attend cyber security event

Members of the NCSC and GCHQ will give talks

Residents across the Island can have the opportunity to learn more about hacking, cyber security on the Isle of Man and what to do if you’re confronted with a ransomware virus.

The event – CyberIsle – takes place on 19 October and will see industry experts, the likes of those working within the UK’s National Cyber Security Centre and GCHQ – the secret service equivalent for cyber.

They’ll be discussing the biggest threats to both businesses and individuals across the British Isles alongside other presentations delving into the cyber skills gap and forensics.

Various Island-based businesses are sponsoring the event.

Riela Cyber, the Ballasalla-based cyber security centre is a main sponsor and will also take part in the presentations looking at ransomware and how best to manage your security.

Director Christian Goelz said: “Improving the Island’s level of cyber security infrastructure and awareness is extremely important.

“We strive to make cyber safety accessible for all businesses within the Manx community, so we view educational events like CyberIsle as a crucial step in that direction.”

The event is free to attend, and registrations can be HERE.
