Rapists given permission to try and appeal sentences

Hearing in front of Judge of Appeal to take place in June

Two rapists who were jailed last year after attacking a teenage girl have been given permission to try and appeal their convictions and sentences.

James Marcus Doherty and Graham Skillicorn have taken their cases to the Staff of Government Appeal Division.

A general hearing in front of Judge of Appeal Cross KC, and presiding Deemsters Pratt and Farrell, will take place on 12 June at 10am.

In December 2024 Doherty was imprisoned for 16 years and Skillicorn received 14 years and six months; their co-defendant Stephen Cannon, who has not appealed, received 15 years and nine months.
