Ramsey man admits driving nearly three times over the limit

24-year-old will be sentenced in November

A Ramsey man will be sentenced later this year after admitting drink driving.

Ryan Almond, of Queen's Drive, was seen driving on Lezayre Road near Ramsey Grammar School at 4.10am on 15 September.

The 24-year-old failed a roadside breath test and was arrested; further tests showed he was just under three times the legal limit.

Almond also pleaded guilty to driving a car in an unroadworthy condition on 29 May this year.

He was stopped near Dhoon Glen driving an Alfa Romeo registered to his father.

It was later found to have various defects including tyres with no tread and three exposed hydraulic brake cables.

The car has since been scrapped.

A social enquiry report will be prepared before Almond is sentenced on 21 November; he's been bailed until that date.
