
Ramsey is set to get a new elderly mental infirm unit and daycare centre around nine months ahead of schedule, subject to Tynwald approval.
Social care minister Martyn Quayle is set to ask the court next month for almost £3.5 million for the 16-bed unit's construction.
The reasons for doing so are twofold - to address the pressing need for such a facility in the north of the Island and as a boost to the construction industry.
If given the go-ahead the unit will be ready to take people by 2012.
