Juan McGuinness says the government is 'turning its back' on the Island Plan
The chair of the Northern Local Authority Swimming Pool Board says the Regional Sports Hub report has 'nothing' to do with the facilities and is actually about closing pools .
Juan McGuinness has hit back at the Department of Education, Sport and Culture which is currently recommending shutting down the Southern Swimming Pool, branding the move 'short term cost cutting'.
It's been met with widespread criticism and the Vice Chair at Castletown Commissioners Beth Cannan has called the decision 'crass'.
She says understands the financial pressures facing the Island, but the impact the pool has is being underestimated.
