Junior MGP abandoned after red flag and weather delays

After a qualifying week disrupted by wind and rain, it was a similar story for the first race day of Manx Grand Prix 2024.

At first road closures were delayed to allow roads to dry, and then a sewage maintenance team had to be dispatched to an issue in Union Mills.

The MGP Junior Race first got underway shortly after 2pm, and Italians Andrea Majola and Maurizio Bottalico led the field.

The race was red-flagged during the second lap because of an issue at Ballacrye - between Ballaugh and Sulby. The rider was reported as being conscious, talking and airmedded to Nobles Hospital.

Showers from Northern Ireland affected the West of the Island, meaning the restarted race was delayed and delayed.

Ultimately at 5:20pm, the Clerk of the Course declared that the course was not fit for racing.
