Public thanked for help after search for missing man concludes

Multi-agency search in south of Island for 59-year-old

Police have thanked members of the public for their help in locating a missing man.

Officers spent much of the afternoon (4 March) searching for 59-year-old Michael Rose after his car was found in the area of The Sloc.

In a post on social media the Isle of Man Constabulary confirmed they have now located Mr Rose and have thanked those involved for their assistance.

A number of other agencies were also involved in the search including Port Erin Coastguard, the Search and Rescue Dog Association and Civil Defence; RNLI lifeboats from Port Erin and Peel searched the coastline.

Port Erin Coastguard has confirmed a HM Coastguard helicopter, which was also called in to assist, located Mr Rose and directed the teams on the ground - who were searching 'arduous terrain' - to his location.

The helicopter then collected the man and transferred him to Noble's Hospital.
