Providing support for business community 'a primary factor' says enterprise minister

Tim Johnston says there are two processes that the DFE can follow 

The enterprise minister says his department is engaging with the business community as it begins the transition to the living wage.

A meeting is scheduled to take place between the DFE and representatives from the hospitality sector next week. 

In the House of Keys today (28 January), Ramsey MHK Lawrie Hooper asked what support is available to help them adapt and transition.

Tim Johnston told the house while he accepts the change will be a challenge for some businesses, providing support is 'a primary factor' and it's important to ensure businesses are sustainable for the future.

He added support can be available by stimulating demand and looking at ways to drive footfall and improve local offerings but also there are various schemes available to help them adapt, invest, and increase productivity:

However not all MHK's believe the schemes will provide assistance.
