Prospect renews calls for higher pay offers following UK announcement

"What we have been offered by comparison is cuts to our members pay", says union boss

Trade union Prospect is renewing calls for higher pay increases for public and civil servants, as well as Manx Care employees.

It follows the UK government's decision to accept recommendations from independent pay review bodies for an average increase of 5.5 percent.

Health Minister Lawrie Hooper previously warned that similar increases could put the Isle of Man in a 'difficult position'.

But, Negotiations Officer Mick Hewer disagrees:

The Public Services Commission's latest offer proposes a 3.25 percent salary rise, decreasing over the subsequent two years, which it believes 'exercises pay restraint'.

Manx Radio continues to seek comment from the PSC, but we're yet to receive a response.
