Progression of Reproductive Rights Bill unanimously backed by MHKs

Legislation seeks to bring laws up to date with the UK to give people here equality

A piece of legislation aiming to update the Island's laws on fertilisation, embryology, and surrogacy has passed its latest stage in the House of Keys.

The Reproductive Rights Bill 2024 is being progressed by MLC Tanya August-Phillips as a Private Members Bill.

But this week, MHK's voted unanimously to progress the legislation through the Island's parliament - moving it to the clauses stage, where it will be considered and debated in more detail.

Presenting the bill to members, Ramsey representative Lawrie Hooper said it represents a 'comprehensive, thoughtful and modern approach to reproductive rights and parenthood':
