A small number of prisoners in the Isle of Man's jail are receiving tax credits, despite Island taxpayers funding their stay behind bars.
Treasury Minister Allan Bell confirmed the position in the House of Keys, in his reply to a question from South Douglas MHK Bill Malarkey.
Mr Malarkey believes in the long-term prisoners should not benefit from such an arrangement.
But Mr Bell told the House it was a difficult thing to monitor and the amount paid was minimal (audio file attached):
