It's hoped it'll enable prisoners to find stable work after completing their sentences
The Isle of Man Prison has launched a new construction workshop aimed at providing prisoners with valuable skills to help them secure employment upon release.
Many inmates reportedly enter the prison system lacking the necessary skills to reintegrate successfully into society.
Alongside the construction workshop, prisoners can take part in courses covering numeracy, literacy, and work skills, all with the goal of reducing reoffending rates.
Lecturer Jon Dunne explained that some prisoners experience 'panic' as they near the end of their sentences:
đ„ New Trade Skills Workshop at Isle of Man Prison The Isle of Man Prison is creating a brand-new construction skills workshop aimed at trades like plastering, bricklaying, joinery and plumbing. This hands-on training provides prisoners with valuable trade skills that can help them secure stable jobs once back in the community. By offering real-world experience in high-demand trades, the program plays a key role in reducing reoffending and giving individuals the tools they need to build a better future.
