11 people jailed as part of 'Operation Nightjar'
Police have described the prevalence of cocaine on the streets of the Isle of Man’s capital as ‘disturbing’.
Eleven people have been jailed this week for their involvement in supplying the Class A drug to undercover police officers.
‘Operation Nightjar’ saw officers from the Isle of Man Constabulary working with the North West Regional Organised Crime Unit, throughout the latter part of 2023, to disrupt those dealing in the ‘nighttime economy’.
Enforcement action against those targeted was carried out between January and February this year.
Sixteen people were brought before the court this week for sentencing in what's believed to be the biggest mass-sentencing exercise to have ever taken place on the Island.
Prison sentences totalling more than 30 years were handed out along with a number of suspended sentences.
