Post Office workers to be consulted on voluntary redundancies

'Fundamental changes' made after mail plane decision

Employees at the Isle of Man Post Office are to be consulted about the future of their careers.

It's said the company has had to make 'fundamental changes' to its operations following Royal Mail's decision to transfer mail to the Island by boat, rather than plane.

It's led to what's been described as a 'surplus in capacity'.

Chair of the Post Office, Stu Peters, says a number of options will be put to the workers:

Mr Peters says the union has been informed, as have the employees at risk of redundancy.
