Port St Mary High Street refurbishment 'on hold' due to lack of funds

DoI says designs cannot be progressed until funding is allocated

Work to refurbish Port St Mary High Street has been put on hold due to a lack of funding.

Infrastructure Minister Tim Crookall says site investigations and a detailed design cannot be progressed until funds are allocated to the capital project.

In response to a Tynwald question from Rushen MHK Juan Watterson, Mr Crookall confirmed his department has developed labour options for the route, but further investigations are needed to establish whether there are utilities or other structures beneath the road.

Earlier this year, Rushen MHK Michelle Haywood highlighted the condition of the road surface by planting daffodils in potholes.
