Port Erin: Evacuated residents told they can return home

'Suspicious items' found at property in Pairk Beg

Residents in Port Erin who were evacuated last night after 'suspicious items' were found in a property in Pairk Beg have been told they can return home.

A police cordon was in place from late Sunday afternoon (8 September) and those within a 100 metre radius were told to leave the area.

Images also appeared online of armed police officers in the Creggan Lea estate in Port St Mary.

In an update posted in the early hours of this morning, police said Manx officers and specialists from the United Kingdom had attended an address in Pairk Beg, Port Erin and a further address in Port St Mary following concerns and have assessed the threat posed. 

The Isle of Man Constabulary has confirmed there is no longer an existing threat to the residents in the vicinity and it is safe for those affected to return home. 

People have been urged not to speculate on this matter.
