'Poor footpaths can affect wellbeing and tourism' - MHK

Calls to create central body to look after rights of way

Poorly maintained footpaths can affect mental wellbeing and tourism on the Isle of Man.

That's the view of a Douglas South MHK who's calling for a central body to be created to look after the Island's public rights of way.

Sarah Maltby will put forward a motion on the issue in the November sitting of Tynwald:

The Department of Infrastructure says footpaths are routinely inspected and maintained.

It adds it holds monthly meetings with the Countryside Access Group - which represents several local organisations - about the matter.
