Policies cover new medical risks

The first insurance policies designed to offer Manx residents the medical cover they will need in the United Kingdom when the Reciprocal Health Agreement ends, have been put on the table.

The companies behind the policies say they are designed for all residents of the Island, including the elderly and those with pre-existing conditions.

Newly formed Manx company Offshore Travel Insurance limited says its tailor made products are similar to those it's been offering in the Channel Islands, since they lost their health arrangement with the UK last April.

The firm will launch its range of policies, with cover up to the age of 89, online in the next six weeks.

Single trip cover with no upper age limit will also be offered.

Chief executive officer at Online Regional Travel Group Brian Kelly says the policies cover the new medical risks in the UK (play audio file):

Thompson Travel in the Isle of Man is ready to market a similar range of insurance policies for medical treatment and repatriation.
