Thomas Cooks name used in fraudulent calls
Police are warning members of the public of a number of phone scams doing the rounds at the moment.
In one, a caller rings pretending to be from a well known Manx company, with several names used.
The scam involves the victim setting up a payment to 'sort an issue' - in fact, they have signed up for monthly payments to a dating site.
In a second scam, a caller rings up pretending to be trying to sort out issues in relation to the collapse of Thomas Cook.
Banking details are taken from the victim and money is stolen from their account.
Officers say you should never give bank details over the phone to unknown persons, particularly unexpected callers.
If in doubt, hang up, check the line is clear and ring a person at the company you know and trust, to see if there really is an issue.
