Anybody planning on celebrating New Year by cooking a goose is being asked to make sure it comes from a legitimate source.
It follows the theft of a quantity of geese from farmland in the west of the Island.
Police say two local men are helping them with enquiries.
Anyone with information relating to the sale, or offering for sale of geese other than through a reputable retailer or local farm, is asked to ring Peel Police Station, on 842208.
