Will provide power to farm house and outbuildings if approved
A planning application has been submitted which could see a wind turbine erected on private property in the south of the Island.
If approved, the structure will be mounted at Upper Kirkill Farm in Colby on a 12-metre pole, with the vertical axis turbine being 4.5-metres high and a diameter of three metres.
The proposal is part of a scheme for the replacement of the existing house with one which is 'significantly more environmentally friendly and energy efficient'.
The turbine will provide electricity which will serve all of the site including the approved barn and the pump house.
The application states the development 'will not result in an adverse impact on the landscape or the amenities of those nearby nor would there be an unacceptable impact on ecology'.
You can find the application in full here.
