Application submitted on site of former facilities

A planning application has been submitted which could see a glamping site return to Glen Helen.

Permission is being sought to install eight camping pods including hot tubs, sauna, decking and associated pathways, secure bicycle parking, landscaping and seating.

The site is that of the former glamping facility together with the existing café building and part of the Department of Environment, Food and Agriculture car park.

The operators of The Lodge - a former eatery on the site - left in October 2024, stating the landowners had 'decided to sell-up'.

It is currently in the process of being purchased by the applicant - Ms Bryony Kneale, Wild West Limited - from the former operator and permission is being sought to use approximately 15 car parking spaces.

Previously there were ten glamping pods on the site, but these have been removed following the cessation of the lease by the former operator.

All that currently remains is the café/ facilities building - empty and closed - and a cleared area to the east.

The proposal includes five smaller units and three larger ones.

The smaller pods will accommodate between 2-4 persons and the larger ones 2-6 persons.
