Pilot scheme to free-up ambulance time

Government health chiefs say a pilot scheme connecting residents of the Island's care homes to UK health professionals via video link could bring real benefits.

It's hoped support offered to elderly residents through 'Immedicare' technology will reduce the number of ambulance call-outs and GP visits, by treating and assessing people where they live.

Tim Mansfield, Director of Commissioning at the DHSC says the service is being trialed in 15 homes and costs £72,000 to run for the 15-month pilot period.
