Decision made to wait for high water
Passengers and vehicles are currently unable to leave Manannan in Liverpool due to ‘excessive movement’ of the link span.
The Steam Packet says a decision has been made to wait for high water saying it should improve conditions so people can get off.
It’s apologised for the inconvenience to those stuck onboard and those waiting to travel on the return sailing adding: "We are working to minimise any further disruption to the schedule."
The company's website shows the vessel arrived in Merseyside at 1.03pm.
It had already been delayed due to poor weather and had been due to make its return journey to Douglas at 3pm.
Earlier today police had asked people to avoid the Sea Terminal this evening saying they’re expecting ‘congestion’.
It was because the Manannan and the Ben-my-Chree were both due to arrive around 6pm.
Officers say one ferry arriving full of bikes causes traffic build-up ‘never mind two’.
Update: Manannan departed Liverpool at 3.54pm and is due back into Douglas at 6.45pm.
