Travel Group defends Ronaldsway after criticism over mid-flight cancellations

The boss of a travel agency firm has defended Ronaldsway Airport, which continues to face criticism after two flights from London were cancelled mid-flight on Sunday evening.

Brian Kelly suggests there is a global shortage of air traffic controllers, with the US alone being short by an estimated 4,000.

An investigation is underway following the incident, but a spokesperson for the airport says the team "consistently strives to extend operations beyond official opening hours whenever possible".

Mr Kelly - who is the Chairman of the Online Regional Travel Group - says that, in most cases, the airline itself is to blame:
