Commissioners reject proposals
Onchan Commissioners have rejected plans to redevelop a former bank in the village.
The proposals, lodged by local firm Gold Properties Ltd, sought to transform the Isle of Man Bank branch on Main Road into a restaurant, commercial units and four flats.
But the authority's board last night overwhelmingly opposed the development - citing concerns over parking and the surrounding environment.
The final decision now rests with DEFA's planning committee.
Commissioner James Cherry expressed his disappointment with the vote, maintaining a refurbished building could be 'a great asset to the village'.
