'Not possible' to know how long bus disruption will continue

Infrastructure Minister says majority of services have operated as normal

The infrastructure minister says it's not possible at this point to know when disruption to bus services on the Isle of Man will end.

Tim Crookall confirmed a low level of loss of service is expected to continue until new recruits become operational.

In response to a Tynwald written question from Douglas East MHK Joney Faragher, Mr Crookall said driving staff currently only need to give two weeks notice, while recruiting and training new recruits take considerably longer.

Last week, Head of Operations at Bus Vannin Ian Bates told Manx Radio it takes six weeks to train a new driver.

The transport operator continues to publish daily lists of routes at risk of cancellation as it blames staff shortages and sickness.
