Douglas woman to be awarded costs after case dismissed
A Douglas woman will be awarded costs after allegations of benefit fraud against here were dropped.
Andriana Tsagka, of Queen’s Promenade, had previously denied two offences of making false representations to obtain more than £11,000.
She’d been accused of failing to declare she was the co-owner of two properties, as well as the one she was residing in, whilst claiming Employed Persons Allowance in October 2022 and May 2023.
It had also been alleged that she’d failed to inform Treasury that her circumstances had changed between September and October last year.
However at a court hearing, before Deputy High Bailiff Graeme Cook on 10 October, not guilty verdicts were recorded against the three charges.
No convictions have therefore been recorded and the case was dismissed.
Dr Tsagka will be entitled to costs which are to be determined at a later date.
