Not guilty plea from man accused of domestic abuse

Accused allegedly threatened to 'chop up her dog'

A Castletown man has appeared in court after being accused of domestic abuse.

Michael James Keane, of Y Vaarney Yiarg, allegedly assaulted his then-partner repeatedly between November last year and April.

The court heard that Keane hit her several times per week, cut her hair without her permission and hid her medication.

It's also alleged he threatened to 'chop up her dog and send her the body parts'. 

The 38-year-old pleaded not guilty during an appearance at Douglas Courthouse.

He was bailed until his next appearance, when the case will be elevated to the Court of General Gaol Delivery, on 25 June.

 

UPDATE: Mr Keane was committed to the Court of General Gaol Delivery on 25 June at Douglas Courthouse.

No bail application was made, and he remains in custody.
