Stocks reach remarkable high
A surge in blood donors on the Island has reduced demand for existing stocks.
Health bosses claim there's now an 'ample supply' of A-positive and B-positive blood - which are found in almost half the population - in the bank at Noble's Hospital.
It means those who regularly donate it will be contacted less regularly by the health service in future.
Noble's Pathology Manager Steve Doyle called it a 'remarkable achievement' which 'speaks volumes for the community spirit' of Manx people.
It's a markedly different situation here than in the UK, where shortages are often present for all types of blood.
