Government working on bespoke strategy to 'address unique needs of Island'
The chief minister says there are no plans to bring in EU legislation on artificial intelligence during this administration.
The legislation came into force in August last year, and evaluates the risks posed by AI applications, and promotes regulatory compliance.
Alfred Cannan confirmed government won't be introducing the laws here or adopting elements from the European regulation, but is considering a comprehensive AI strategy for the Isle of Man, which will be presented to Tynwald in due course.
Mr Cannan says the priority will be to establish a balanced approach that encourages AI development while ensuring appropriate safeguards.
He adds that government recognises the importance of the EU legislation, but that the Island's approach will be to create a bespoke solution that addresses the unique needs and challenges facing the Isle of Man.
