New campaign hopes to end period poverty on Island

Manx Menstrual Movement ask for local experiences and opinions

A new campaign has been launched which aims to make period products freely accessible on the Isle of Man.

The hope is to end period poverty here on the Island.

The team behind the 'Manx Menstrual Movement' say they are currently in the data gathering stage of the process, but have received backing from Douglas East MHK Joney Faragher.

They're hoping to follow the lead of Scotland, which became the first country to make period products freely available to anyone who needs them back in 2022.

There is now a legal duty on local authorities there to provide free items such as tampons and sanitary pads to anyone who needs them.

The Scottish bill was introduced by Labour MSP Monica Lennon, who campaigned to end period poverty since 2016.
