Central and southern parts 'mainly' affected
A new amber weather warning has been issued for snow/ hail showers for this evening and overnight.
Ronaldsway Met Office says it will mainly affect central and southern areas of the Island.
The warning comes into force at 3pm today (17 January) until 3pm tomorrow (18 January).
Meanwhile, after closing following reports of sheet ice this morning, the Mountain Road has reopened.
The wintry showers are expected to clear by tomorrow morning, though potentially leading to 1-3cm of snow for low-levels and a risk of 2-5cm for higher ground.
It says ice will be an additional hazard on untreated surfaces with temperatures remaining sub-zero throughout for areas above around 1000 FT.
From 5pm ice is expected to form in low-level areas sheltered from the light to moderate N or NW wind especially in places that are damp/wet or become snow covered.
Minimum air temperatures falling to -3°C in some areas.
