MT and Ramsey Town Library join forces to offer work spaces
People in the north of the Island are being encouraged to work remotely when the Mountain Road closes for six weeks.
Ramsey Town Commissioners and Manx Telecom have joined forces to create new work spaces for workers who want to avoid the disruption.
On Monday, 28 February, the Department of Infrastructure will close the Mountain Road for vital maintenance ahead of the TT period.
To combat expected congestion on other routes 20 work spaces are being created at Ramsey Town Library in the Town Hall.
It's something supported by Manx Telecom – Gary Lamb is the chief executive:
The work spaces will be available between 9am and 4.30pm from Monday to Thursday and 9am to 4pm on Friday.
Alby Oldham is the chairman of Ramsey Town Commissioners he said: "We really appreciate the assistance from Manx Telecom in providing the upgraded superfast broadband service to enable additional people to access the internet during this time.
"As well as the benefits to the individuals who use it there are also benefits to the town in terms of additional business and, if this initiative is successful, we may look at providing working space beyond the six-week period.
"There is even potential to develop the space into an area for incubator businesses so it will be very interesting to see the response."
