More than 43,000 visitors for TT 2023, survey says

Study also claims total visitor spend over £36million

It's estimated over 43,000 people visited the Isle of Man for this year's TT races.

That's according to results from a recent survey which also says visitor spend during the event came to around £36.1million.

The survey was carried out by Tourism South East as part of a wider contract with Visit Isle of Man aiming to find out how much the races contribute to the Manx economy and look at visitor behaviours.

In total, 1,587 passenger groups were interviewed as part of it at either the Sea Terminal or Ronaldsway Airport between 25 May and 25 June.

Of those, 1,085 were visitor groups with 834 of those groups (77 per cent) heading to the Isle of Man specifically for the TT. 

The results in the report are only based on responses from those that were visiting for the races.

It states that the average spend per visitor this year between 29 May and 10 June was £834, up from £801 in 2019 with visitors, on average, staying for 6.09 nights.

Furthermore, the study says 98.2 per cent of those who travelled for the racing fortnight said their stay had met or exceeded expectations.

Among the other findings, those aged 50-64 were the largest visiting age group making up 38.3 per cent of all visitors and 59.4 per cent of visitors also took part in an outdoor activity during their stay.

Enterprise Minister, Tim Johnston, has described it as 'incredibly positive' to see visitor numbers 'continuing to return to pre-pandemic levels despite the economic challenges that so many people have faced around the world.'
