MHKs to fly to Australia for Commonwealth Parliamentary Association conference

Callister and Christian's travel paid for by the CPA

Two MHKs are set to fly to Australia next month to attend the 67th Commonwealth Parliamentary Association conference.

Claire Christian and Rob Callister have been chosen to represent Tynwald at the event; they will travel in economy class, with all flight costs funded by the CPA.

They will attend workshops and discuss 'topics of interest' such as the use of Artificial Intelligence, immigration, and national climate planning.

Six-hundred Parliamentarians, parliamentary staff and decision makers from across the Commonwealth are set to attend the event.

The Deputy Clerk of Tynwald will also attend the conference to both support the Members and to attend the meetings for the Society of Clerks at the Table.

Founded in 1911, the Commonwealth Parliamentary Association is described as an 'international community of nearly 180 Parliaments and Legislatures who work in conjunction with each other sharing experience and commitment to democratic governance.'

The theme for this year’s conference is 'Engage, Empower, Sustain: Charting the Course for Resilient Democracy'.

Details of any other costs, including accommodation, will be published on the Tynwald website at a later date.
